Description
Western’s Actuarial Case Competition offers a distinctive platform for members of ASUA to seamlessly bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, fostering experiential learning and collaborative teamwork. This pivotal competition, central to our educational endeavors, enriches the campus community by refining interpersonal skills. Engaging between 25-45 participants, teams of 3-4 students will tackle a shared insurance-related case, applying their accumulated coursework knowledge to devise innovative solutions. The culmination involves presenting these solutions to an audience comprising fellow participating teams and a panel of six distinguished judges. This panel includes two esteemed professors from the Department of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences, two actuaries from Canada Life, one from Sun Life, and one from Manulife. Following the presentations, participants will have the invaluable opportunity to network with these esteemed professionals. The judges will determine the winners and the second-place team, who will be rewarded with monetary prizes. This event promises not only a challenging competition but also a gateway to meaningful connections and practical insights within the actuarial field.
