Opt-In

In January 2019, the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) announced reforms to post-secondary education which required institutions to classify ancillary fees as essential (mandatory) or non-essential (optional), as per Ministry guidelines. The policy requires that students be given the option to opt-out of paying fees that are deemed non-essential by the Ministry. 

There are a number of valuable programs and services that are classified as optional under the Student Choice Initiative, many of which are solely funded by student ancillary fees. Opting-out of these fees means that your experience here at Western may be impacted. Through this site, you have the ability to opt back in by paying some or all of these fees.

We believe these programs and services play a vital role in providing the best student experience for all undergraduate students at Western. While you may not directly benefit from the programs and services that these fees provide, we encourage you to rethink the impact that your decision to opt-out will have on your peers at Western and the overall student experience on our campus.

The secretariat at Western MUN is thrilled to host our annual flagship conference, WESMUN. Since 1997, Western Model UN has provided quality conferences to delegations across Canada. Through rigorous debate, intense negotiations, and innovative teamwork, students leave WESMUN a stronger, well-informed delegate. From November 12 to 13, the secretariat will be bringing back Western University's MUN conference to an in-person format. The secretariat is working diligently to present delegates with an engaging and memorable MUN experience. This year, WESMUN plans to host a joint crisis/historical crisis committee, two specialized committees, and a general assembly. These committees cover a wide range of topics, from Cold War crises, post-conflict peace-building, and the politics at sea. This three-day events represents the breadth of MUN experience WESMUN has developed in its nearly twenty-five year history. ​We look forward to greeting you at Western this fall! We will allocate tickets in advance and provide food for everyone which will be pre-bought. Right to Play is hosting our annual golf tournament this Sunday, October 16th at Crumlin Creek Golf Course! This is a 12-hole course and it is located at 1720 Crumlin Sideroad, London, ON N5V 1S2. Things to Note: -Only 1 signup form needs to be completed to signup a Team! Teams can range in size of 2, 3, and 4. - Fee (including carts): $50 for RTP members and $55 for non-members. All proceeds will go to Right to Play. You will be contacted via the email you provide, including payment to confirm your registration. - Clubs: If you have clubs bring them! Otherwise, there will be few rental sets provided by the course at an additional fee. These sets are limited so we encourage bringing your own or sharing with teammates. -Time: We will have staggered tee times of approximately 9-minute intervals, starting at 1:03 PM. McMUN (January 26-29, 2023) Registration
Thank you for your interest in attending McMUN 2023! McMUN is scheduled to take place IN-PERSON from January 26-29, 2023! Prior to COVID-19 shutting down external travel for clubs, Western Model UN had a history of sending one of the biggest and most enthusiastic delegations of students to attend McMUN. This year's Senior Executive is determined to bring that back! To ensure the best possible conference experience for our club members, we are offering the chance to priority register for McMUN. By priority registering, you will be able to attend the conference at a discounted rate! Please fill out this google form to confirm that you are interested in attending McMUN with the priority registration rate. Upon filling out this form, you will be emailed soon after with a deposit payment link. The $135 deposit (equal to the entire delegate registration fee) will officially secure your spot at McMUN. Failure to pay your deposit by September 30th, 2022 may cause you to lose your spot to another interested delegate. Trivia Tournament Night (October 23, 2022) Registration
Trivia game tournament hosted by Western Model United Nations club that allow general members and Western trivia lovers alike to join and compete for a prize pot. There will be a wide range of topics including history, world politics, geography and social sciences. There will be increments of 5 questions per round, and each round will be played in player vs player style with eliminations. The winner of each round proceeds to the next round to compete with the winner from a different pair. The final winner is rewarded with a cash prize!

Creep The Ceeps
Creep the Ceeps is back! This year, the KSA's charity of choice is Campfire Circle, an organization that provides year-round community, in-hospital and overnight camp programs for children diagnosed with cancer. We are hosting a bar night with the ceeps on October 27th, wristbands are $5 each which grants you line bypass and cover. ALL proceeds will go directly towards Campfire Circle. UNICEF Western - Krispy Kreme Fall Fundraiser
UNICEF Western will be hosting its annual Fall Krispy Kreme Fundraiser. Customers living in the London area will access a link to a pre-order (google) form where they will be able to fill out their name, contact information, the number of boxes they are ordering, and choice of pick-up location (Weldon Library or Entrance of Natural Sciences). Pick-ups will take place during the time between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The google form will also provide access to a link to UNICEF Western’s USC Storefront, where they will be able to purchase their donuts. Donuts will be distributed on the date and time listed below (NOV 7th, 12:00-6:00 PM) in a socially distanced fashion. “Distribution in a socially distanced fashion” mandates that all Krispy Kreme handlers disinfect boxes with Lysol wipes before bringing them to pick-up locations. All Krispy Kreme handlers will be encouraged to wear a mask at all times during the distribution process. There will be no physical contact between the handler and the customer. Customers will receive text updates reminding them to collect their donuts on Nov 7th between the time 12:00 to 6:00 PM. On October 16th, Black in STEM will be providing Western students the chance to get 3 professional headshots taken, for their LinkedIn profile for only $15. The executive team will take their photos at Huron later that day. The photographer that will be taking the headshots works at the Western Gazette.
