Opt-In

In January 2019, the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) announced reforms to post-secondary education which required institutions to classify ancillary fees as essential (mandatory) or non-essential (optional), as per Ministry guidelines. The policy requires that students be given the option to opt-out of paying fees that are deemed non-essential by the Ministry.

There are a number of valuable programs and services that are classified as optional under the Student Choice Initiative, many of which are solely funded by student ancillary fees. Opting-out of these fees means that your experience here at Western may be impacted. Through this site, you have the ability to opt back in by paying some or all of these fees.

We believe these programs and services play a vital role in providing the best student experience for all undergraduate students at Western. While you may not directly benefit from the programs and services that these fees provide, we encourage you to rethink the impact that your decision to opt-out will have on your peers at Western and the overall student experience on our campus.

You can find out more about the fees at https://www.saveyourstudentexperience.ca/

It is your responsibility to confirm the fees you have opted out of prior to opting back in to ensure you do not double pay. Please view your fee bill at https://student.uwo.ca prior to completing this form.

Purple Spur Fashion Show Donation

The Spur Charity Fashion Show’s 2023-2024 year has arrived. We are thrilled to be organizing the annual Spur Charity Fashion Show in support of The Children’s Aid Society of London and Middlesex. As Western University’s oldest and most established student-run club, we are dedicated to uniting and enriching student-life at Western, while giving back to the community that surrounds us.

Our team of 200+ students across all of Western University’s faculties have been hard at work to bring you a show like never before. Throughout the years, SFS has built a reputation for not only raising the bar, but also, setting its own bar. Last year, we were able to raise $20,000 for 519 Pursuit and we hope to continue this success! This year we have chosen to partner with The Children’s Aid Society of London and Middlesex, which provides services to vulnerable children, youth and families in Middlesex County, Ontario, Canada.  This show’s success depends on the support of our surrounding communities who help us to uplift and contribute in donating all of our profits to causes that are dear to us. As the collective dedication of those around us has allowed our cast and crew to engage with organizations in new and meaningful ways.  In addition, donations received will enable us to provide a creative and safe space on campus for students to give back to the city that has taught us valuable lessons both in and outside our classroom settings. We are so excited to bring our vision to life. Please join Spur in our journey to give back to the community and promote diversity, inclusion, and empowerment. SFS would like to express its sincere appreciation for your interest supporting us and families in need to move onwards! Thank you for your Support, The Spur Fashion Show Directors & Team - 2024
